Which companies in Iowa sponsor visas for data analysts?
Principal Financial Group, Transamerica, and Nationwide Insurance in Des Moines are among the more active sponsors for data analyst roles, given their scale and data-intensive operations. University of Iowa and Iowa State University also sponsor analysts through academic and research units. Agricultural technology firms and regional health systems like UnityPoint Health round out the sponsorship pool across the state.
Which visa types are most common for data analyst roles in Iowa?
The H-1B visa is the most common visa for data analysts in Iowa, as the role consistently qualifies as a specialty occupation requiring a bachelor's degree in a related field such as statistics, computer science, or mathematics. Some analysts also enter through OPT or STEM OPT extensions after graduating from Iowa universities. L-1B transfers apply for analysts moving from a foreign office of a multinational employer.
Which cities in Iowa have the most data analyst visa sponsorship jobs?
Des Moines accounts for the majority of data analyst sponsorship activity in Iowa, driven by its concentration of insurance, financial services, and healthcare employers. Cedar Rapids is a secondary hub with manufacturing and financial firms. Iowa City benefits from the University of Iowa ecosystem, including research roles and affiliated health system positions that periodically sponsor international analysts.
How to find data analyst visa sponsorship jobs in Iowa?
Migrate Mate filters job listings specifically by visa sponsorship availability, so you can search data analyst roles in Iowa without sorting through positions that don't sponsor. The platform indexes employers who have a documented history of H-1B and other work visa filings, which is particularly useful in Iowa where sponsorship-willing employers are spread across industries like insurance, agtech, and healthcare rather than clustered in a single sector.
Are there any Iowa-specific considerations for data analysts seeking visa sponsorship?
Iowa's prevailing wage requirements for H-1B data analyst roles are set at the county level by the Department of Labor, and Des Moines wages differ from smaller metros like Ames or Dubuque. Iowa State University and the University of Iowa produce a steady pipeline of STEM graduates, meaning some employers are already familiar with OPT and STEM OPT timelines. Agribusiness and insurance are the dominant industries, so analysts with domain experience in those areas tend to see stronger sponsorship interest.
What is the prevailing wage for sponsored data analyst jobs in Iowa?
U.S. employers sponsoring a visa must pay at least the prevailing wage, which is what workers in the same role, area, and experience level typically earn. The Department of Labor sets this rate to make sure companies aren't hiring foreign workers simply because they'd accept lower pay than a U.S. worker. It varies by job title, location, and experience. You can look up current prevailing wage rates for any occupation and location using the OFLC Wage Search page.
